My Educational Ethos
A critical and creative engagement with developing intellectual curiosity lies at the core of my educational ethos. Too often in formal educational systems, strict adherence to intended outcomes erects a barrier to student creativity, and ignores the abiding importance of nurturing the development of an individualised perspective throughout the learning process. I believe this approach is antithetical to fostering student curiosity (or love of learning), and strive to combat such rigidity through a learning environment that facilitates criticality and creativity in a way that facilitates the capacity for leadership.
My work focusses on "planting seeds," mentoring students toward enacting individual agency over their own self-development and improvement, which better prepares them for the demands of higher education and the workforce. Through a holistic approach that nurtures a student's inherent humanity, we build the bridge as we walk across it, eventually arriving on the shore of an educational attainment that relieves the pressure to attain a limited definition of "achievement." In my experience, most students thrive under this form of instruction, and become more curious learners. As such, our efforts prove uniquely beneficial.
